Running in Place

My arms pumping, lungs heaving,

Feet pounding the ground,

Trying to escape my worries and

Fears.

But I'm stuck in place, merely

Running in place, with nothing

but save for my tears.

My heart on overdrive,

Red hot blood coursing through

My veins. My body is preparing to

Jolt forward.

But like a stallion being restrained

By its reigns,

My attempts are in vain.

I falter repeatedly,

Like a broken vinyl whose

Soothing notes can no longer be

Enjoyed,

I've become one with this corrupt

Place.

I am the south end of the magnet,

Always being forced back to my

Point of origin.

Chaos...
